Guy Francis has been drawing his entire life. In grade school his friends would exchange part of their lunch for drawings. His teachers would often let him stay in at recess or skip the school play practice to work on special art projects. And at home he always had some crazy project in the works. He knew then that art would be a part of his life. It wasn’t until high school that he realized a person could make a living being an artist, and while attending college (Brigham Young University) He got his first children’s picture book job illustrating Showdown at Slickrock by Pat Bagley. Since then he has published a variety of work including book covers, children’s games, early chapter books and picture books. He is thrilled to be making a living doing what he loves, drawing pictures.
He was born and raised in Provo, Utah where he currently lives with his wife, Lorien and four children, Calvin, Samantha, Madeline and Max. He loves hiking, camping and relaxing in the outdoors. He has always enjoyed building, fixing or creating things. His current hobbies include fixing up his rusty old ’46 Chevy pickup truck, building mechanical automatons, growing his bonsai trees and building and flying RC airplanes with his kids. All of which help fill his illustrations with interesting, charming chaos.
